Dindo Fernandez’s journey exemplifies the power of combining passion, community engagement, and musical talent to create a meaningful impact. As he continues to inspire and entertain, the Soulful Balladeer leaves us eagerly anticipating the musical treasures he will unveil in the coming year.
In an exclusive interview with VJ Ella of Balisong Channel, Dindo Fernandez, the accomplished Soulful Balladeer, shared the inspiring story of his musical journey. Recently honored with the Best Male Pop Artist award at the 36th Aliw Awards held at The Manila Hotel, Dindo revealed the beginnings of his singing career and his elation at winning the prestigious award. Additionally, he discussed what his fans can anticipate in 2024.
Hailing from Angat, Bulacan, and proud to be a Batangueño since 2008, Dindo is not just a talented singer but also an engineer by profession. A graduate of the University of Sto. Tomas, he established himself as a Civil Engineer. Beyond his musical pursuits, Dindo owns a well-known restaurant in Alangilan, Batangas City, EF Cafe and Restaurant.
Dindo’s musical journey began at the age of 10 when he discovered his singing talent, captivating audiences with classics like “The Greatest Love of All” and “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You.” His exceptional pitch became evident during high school when he joined the Immaculate Conception choir in Marungko, Angat, Bulacan, earning him admiration for his tenor and solo performances.
Active in the Immaculate Conception Sub-pastoral Youth Council during his youth, Dindo initiated various programs aimed at encouraging youth participation in church activities. The group’s community service included distributing groceries to the 50 poorest families in the Barrio, funded through Christmas caroling.
Dindo is not only a talented singer but also a supporter of local artists in Batangas. Through his weekly show, “The Next Featured Artist” at EF Cafe and Restaurant, he provides a platform for local talents to showcase their abilities, fostering confidence and diverting youths from vices. The event’s Grand Finale is set for 2024.
The recent highlight of Dindo’s career was winning the 36th Aliw Awards for Best Male Pop Artist. He attributes this success to his engaging EF Live Sessions on Facebook, covering hits by local artists such as Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano and Regine Velasquez. Dindo expressed surprise at the recognition from younger generations and takes pride in his unique renditions of famous songs.
During the interview, Dindo expressed gratitude to his followers and supporters, acknowledging their role in encouraging him to hold a concert, Dindo Fernandez: Live at Teatrino with Musica Chiesa, that led to his Aliw Awards nomination and victory. He credits his sacrifices in preparing for the concert and believes the award acknowledges his journey as an artist, his weekly performances in Batangas, and his original compositions available on digital platforms.
As he looks to the future, Dindo Fernandez plans to release more cover songs, original compositions, and collaborations with other artists in 2024. Proudly endorsing the local fragrance company, Lillies et Water France, he recently held a ‘meet and greet’ session at their Citimart branch in Rosario, Batangas, with more sessions planned, offering product discounts. Dindo also expressed gratitude for the continuous support from patrons visiting EF Cafe and Restaurant, showcasing its specialties. Moreover, he actively promotes Batangas tourism through the Facebook page ‘Where to Eat in Batangas,’ featuring local restaurants.
