REMOISM Unleashed: Remo Valenton’s Bold Leap into Environmental Expression

As Valenton aptly puts it, “Should my days come to the end of the line, memories of my art would live in time.” His art is not just a visual feast but a timeless testament to the power of creativity and the urgency of environmental stewardship. REMOISM is not merely an exhibition; it’s a call to action, an invitation to explore the transformative potential of art in shaping a better world.

A revolutionary art exhibition is taking the cultural scene by storm in Batangas City. “REMOISM,” the brainchild of the proud Batangueño artist Remo Valenton, is an exquisite showcase of creativity and environmental advocacy. Running from November 10 to November 24, 2023, at the Museo ng Batangas, People’s Mansion, Batangas Provincial Capitol, this exhibition marks Valenton’s inaugural one-man show, featuring a collection entirely composed of his original creations.

Remo Valenton, born in 1957, is not just an artist but a man on a mission. A graduate in Fine Arts from the Philippine Women’s University, he delves into his artistic journey with an experimental approach, believing in the unique expression of art as a foundation for creative excitement. His fascination with textural effects and bold, vibrant colors sets him apart, drawing inspiration from impressionism but using colors not to describe his subjects but to express his experiences of them.

Valenton’s avant-garde style, often considered abstract expressionism, serves as a pioneering force in the modern art world. His canvases tell a story of essential metamorphosis, a plea to nourish the earth for future generations. The proceeds from this remarkable exhibition go towards the Better Together Foundation of Agoncillo, Batangas, the Museo ng Batangas, and BAGSIK (Batangueñong Grupo sa Sining at Kultura), an art group he founded in 1991.

Undoubtedly, Valenton’s progressive form and dedication to his craft make him an influential figure in the art community. From classical mannerisms to abstract expressionisms, his work pays homage to the Renaissance of REMOISM. His relentless pursuit of new art forms, often utilizing found objects, scraps, and trash, transforms mundane items into magnificent creations, showcasing his ability to turn the ordinary into magic.

Apart from his artistic endeavors, Remo T. Valenton is a committed environmentalist. Through his art, he investigates humanity’s relationship with the environment, urging viewers to actively engage with the natural world. Valenton’s contemporary art not only defines the Earth’s situation but also advocates for sustainable lifestyle choices that can positively impact the planet.
